I lost a beautiful sunset shoot last year because my fixed ND filters couldn’t keep up with the changing light. That frustration pushed me into the world of variable neutral density filters, and after testing dozens over 12 months on my Sony A7 IV, Canon R6 II, and Fujifilm X-T5, I have a clear picture … Read more
I have spent the last six months strapping ND filters onto the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro on mountain bike trails, snowy ridgelines, and crowded city streets. The difference between footage shot with and without a neutral density filter is night and day. Without one, the Action 5 Pro defaults to shutter speeds that are … Read more
I took my GoPro HERO13 Black to a kite beach last summer and shot everything at default settings. The footage looked like a security camera. Wheels looked frozen, water looked like syrup, and every pan was a stutter. The fix was a set of ND filters. The best ND filters for the GoPro HERO13 Black … Read more
Finding the right ND filters for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 changed how I shoot video outdoors. The Pocket 3 ships with a fixed f/2.0 aperture, which sounds bright, but on a sunny afternoon the camera is forced into shutter speeds like 1/4000 or 1/8000. That gives you choppy, unnatural-looking footage with zero motion blur. … Read more
I took my DJI Mini 4 Pro out on a bright morning last spring and immediately noticed the footage looked overexposed and choppy. The shutter speed was stuck too fast for cinematic motion blur. That is when I started hunting for the best ND filters for the DJI Mini 4 Pro, and I never looked … Read more
I have been flying the DJI Air 3S for the past four months, and the single upgrade that transformed my aerial footage from flat to cinematic was a proper set of ND filters. The Air 3S has a dual-camera system with a 24mm wide lens and a 70mm tele lens, and the bright 1-inch sensor … Read more
I have spent more hours than I can count flying my DJI Mavic 4 Pro over coastlines, city skylines, and mountain ridges. After testing dozens of filter combinations across every lighting condition imaginable, I can tell you that finding the right ND filters is the difference between footage that looks like a movie and footage … Read more
If you shoot serious video with the Panasonic Lumix GH7, you’ve probably realized the camera body alone can’t hold all the gear you actually need. I learned this the hard way on a documentary shoot last spring, when I tried to balance a top handle, shotgun mic, monitor, and external SSD on the GH7’s tiny … Read more
I bought my Sony a7C II thinking it would be the perfect travel companion. Then I tried mounting a Rode mic, a small LED panel, and my DJI RS 3 Mini for a street video shoot in Tokyo. Within ten minutes I realized the compact body I loved had nowhere to put anything. The truth … Read more
I spent six weeks swapping L-brackets on my own Nikon Z8 before writing this guide, and I lost count of how many portrait-to-landscape transitions I made. If you shoot landscape, architecture, or anything that demands clean orientation switching on a tripod, the right L-bracket turns a clunky workflow into a one-handed click. The wrong one … Read more
